The #separațidarîmpreună Timișoreana initiative

The unprecedented situation of the COVID-19 pandemic brought with itself uncertainty and fear, being a period of time when we needed to be there for one another and to show empathy and solidarity.

In this context, through our Timișoreana brand, we launched the #separațidarîmpreună national fundraising initiative, created to support the fight against coronavirus. As part of this initiative, we donated 1.000.000 lei to the Romanian Red Cross, for the purchase of medical equipment needed in the Romanian hospitals. At the same time, we invited all Romanians to join us and to donate 2 euros to the Red Cross, either via SMS, or via the separațidarimpreuna.ro website.

Some of the most beloved Romanian artists, such as Andra, Feli, Damian Drăghici, Florin Ristei, Hora Brenciu, HAHAHA Production and the Romanian Youth Orchestra, joined the # separațidarîmpreună initiative. On the Easter evening, they performed in a charitable happening on Antena 1, Digi 24, Kanal D, PRO TV and on Timișoreana Facebook page.

The first materials purchased from the donation made to the Romanian Red Cross arrived in Timișoara, the city where the Timișoreana story began. 1200 tests for diagnosing COVID-19 and protective equipment reached Victor Babeș Infectious Diseases Hospital, for those who took care, day after day, of the people in the community.

Zero La Mie App

As a responsible player in the beer industry, we are constantly working to educate traffic participants on the negative effects of driving under alcohol influence. The most recent initiative in this direction aims to raise the awareness level through the Zero La Mie mobile app, which helps drives see if they meet the legal requirements to get behind the wheel, thus contributing to a safer and more responsible traffic.

The Zero La Mie App, first launched in 2011, in partnership with the Romanian Traffic Police and the Institute of Forensic Medicine, was relaunched in 2019, with new functionalities, and is part of the Despre Alcool.ro responsible consumption platform. The development of the new version of Zero La Mie started from the results of the ”Social attitudes regarding the risk in traffic 2018” study, which indicated that a significant percent of Romanian drivers is still driving after they consumed alcohol.

A testing tool for its users, the app is in the same time an informative tool that reiterates that fact that the legal limit of alcohol when driving a car in Romania is 0‰. Zero La Mie allows users to find out the estimated time in which the blood alcohol level returns to 0 ‰, by going through five simple steps. Based on the data filled in the bio section, such as gender, height, weight, quantity and type of alcohol consumed, but also the interval of consumption, it is estimated an approximate time required to return to zero per thousand blood alcohol levels. If the user has consumed food during the alcohol consumption period, it is recommended to add 90 minutes to the result indicated by the app.

”Test your balance” is a new functionality of the app, through which the users can check their reflexes and control. In order to do that, the users have to access the smartphone’s camera directly from the app. On the screen, a guidance line will appear and the users have to follow it. If they succeed to walk straight, the users pass the test. If not, they are recommended to call a friend or a cab.

Zero La Mie is available both for smartphones with Android system and for those with an iOS one.

At the end of the four days of festival, a little over 60.000 cans (991 kg of aluminium) were collected for recycling purpose. These will turn into as many new cans in 60 days. During the festival, we gave 4500 awards to participants who collected cans.

We highly support academic achievements as well as involvement in communities. One of our key corporate responsibility initiatives is the Students for Community scholarship programme, implemented since 2011.

In 2017, we’ve extended the area of applicability to the whole country, collaborating with universities from Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Galați and TImișoara. The total budget was 118 800 lei. In the last academic year, we’ve offered scholarships to 33 students.

At the same time, we’ve initiated a new pylon of the programme, “Pupils for Community”. The pilot-project has involved 4 technical colleges from Buzău, and the first 10 scholarships were allocated from a budget of 18.000 lei.
