Ursus Breweries is the largest beer producer in Romania.
The brands in our portfolio are: URSUS, Timișoreana, Ciucaș, Peroni Nastro Azzuro, Pilsner Urquell, Asahi Super Dry, Azuga and Kozel. Currently, our company owns 3 breweries: in Brașov, Buzău and Timișoara and a mini-production facility in Cluj-Napoca. Since 2017, Ursus Breweries is part of Asahi Europe & International.

History 1718
The brewery in Timișoara is built.
History 1878
The bear becomes the symbol of the beer produced in Cluj.
History 1892
The brewery in Brașov is built.
History 1978
The brewery in Buzău is inaugurated.
History 1996
The SABMiller Group acquires the brewery in Buzău.
History 2002
URSUS S.A and Timișoreana S.A merge into a single integrated company, under the name of Compania de Bere România S.A.
History 2004
SABMiller plc acquires the majority shareholder package of Aurora Brașov, which would then merge with Compania de Bere România S.A during the same year.
History 2005
The new name of the SABMiller operations in Romania becomes Ursus Breweries.
History 2009
Ursus Breweries acquires “Bere Azuga”.
History 2017
Asahi Group Holdings Ltd. finalises the acquisition of the former business operations and brands owned by SABMiller. Ursus Breweries is currently part of Asahi Europe & International.
